               CPUC MEETS IN SACRAMENTO OCTOBER 25

    The next California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
decision-making meeting will be held in Sacramento on Friday,
October 25, 1996, beginning at 10 a.m. at the State Board of
Equalization building, 450 N Street, in the Board Room.
    Commission President P. Gregory Conlon and Commissioners
Daniel Wm. Fessler, Jessie J. Knight, Henry M. Duque, and Josiah
L. Neeper usually meet at the Commission headquarters in San
Francisco twice a month to decide rate, competition, service and
safety issues involving investor-owned telecommunications, energy
and water utilities, and transportation companies.
    This will be the third decision-making meeting the Commission
has held in Sacramento this year to enable the public and
legislators to see Commissioners' deliberations firsthand.  The
first 20 minutes of each decision-making meeting are reserved for
public comment on agenda items for that meeting.  Each person is
given a few minutes to speak depending upon the number of
individuals who sign up to speak.
    The Commission encourages the public to attend its meetings.
