As part of its Vision 2000 regulatory reform effort to make operational and organization changes to better serve the needs of California in the new century, the Commission saw a thoughtfully crafted Business Plan as key. The plan is a management and planning tool to improve decision-making processes and allocation of resources. The Draft CPUC Business Plan includes two to three-year outlooks and goals for the Energy, Telecommunications, Water and Transportation industries regulated by the Commission, the new Consumer Services Division, and supporting legal and administrative divisions. It shows staff activities and milestones for 1997 to support Commission goals, and key performance indicators Commissioners and management will use to monitor Business Plan progress. A copy of the Draft CPUC Business Plan is available for public review by calling 415-703-1245. After December 1 it also will be available on the Internet at http://www.cpuc.ca.gov. Written comments are invited; 16 copies should be submitted by December 9, 1996 to the Division of Strategic Planning, California Public Utilities Commission, 505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102-3298. Based on the two-day discussion, the Draft Business Plan will be revised and a final Business Plan submitted to Commissioners for approval at their regular decision-making meeting on December 20, 1996. ###
