CPUC APPROVES CWS RATE DECREASE
The California Public Utilities Commission today approved the California Water Service Company (CWS) request to decrease revenues by $734,600 or 4.8 percent in its East Los Angeles District. CWS is able to reduce revenues and lower customers rates because it had received a rebate from its water supplier, the Central Basin Municipal Water District.
The district serves 26,000 customers in Los Angeles, Montebello, Alhambra and Monterey
Park in Los Angeles County. Starting next month, customers rates will be reduced by
$0.0869 per hundred cubic feet of water used. The reduction is in effect for one year. The
systemwide average residential monthly bill of 2,700 cubic feet of water will be reduced
$1.63, from the current $44.43 to $42.80.
