 CPUC SCHEDULES FINAL ELECTRIC RESTRUCTURING FULL PANEL HEARINGS

    The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has
scheduled two final Full Panel Hearings on Electric
Restructuring:

SAN FRANCISCO  Friday, SEPTEMBER 8  9:00 a.m. - 5 p.m.
State Office Building, 505 Van Ness Avenue - Auditorium

    Focusing on public purpose programs in a competitive electric
    services industry including demand-side management,
    residential customer assistance programs, low emission
    vehicles, research, development and demonstration, renewable
    generation, and utility WMDVBE programs.  A coalition of
    parties will also present their "joint recommendation" for
    restructuring California's electric services industry.
    The general public is invited to comment 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

SACRAMENTO     Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 13  9:15 a.m. - 5 p.m.
714 P Street (the Twin Towers Building) - Room 102

    Parties will comment on the joint recommendation submitted to
    the Commission at the September 8 hearing, and later in the
    day, parties who have not testified at the most recent full
    panel hearings can do so during an "open mike" session.
    The general public is invited to comment 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

    The Commission anticipates issuing a final policy proposal
for electric restructuring later this fall, and working with the
Legislature and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to
facilitate implementation.
