August 16, 1996

To: All Direct Access Working Group participants

From: Lynn Maack, Co-Coordinator of Team D

Consumer Protection and Education Committee

As promised, we are continuing the meetings of DAWG-D, the Consumer Protection and Education Committee, beginning with a meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 1996, in San Francisco.

Dave Kaplan of PG&E is arranging for a meeting room at PG&E's offices, at 77 Beale St.

We have a lot of ground to cover between now and the filing of our October 30 report, so we should probably hold longer meetings than our usual three-hour sessions. Michael Shames (your other co-coordinator) and I have discussed this and propose that our meeting times be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is the time set for the August 28 meeting.

The agenda for the August 28 meeting will be posted on the DRA website, as will this memo. Please check the Agenda for the issues to be discussed.

As usual, written material should be distributed to DAWG-D members in advance of the meeting for discussion at the meeting. Please observe the usual procedures for distribution, e-mailing to those with that capability and faxing to all others. E-mail written submittals to DRA for posting on the DRA website. In order that material can be posted on the website in time for the August 28 meeting, be sure to get it to DRA by Thursday, August 22. My e-mail address is lmaack@cpuc.ca.gov. You should also send to seancasey@cpuc.ca.gov as backup, to better insure that the material will be received and posted in time to be useful.

Since the notice of this meeting's content is short, written submittals can be in outline form. We can flesh them out at the meeting. And if you have something already prepared on any issues other than those on the Agenda for the 28th, feel free to send that in -- we may get short-winded on the scheduled issues….

At the meeting on August 28, we will decide how many meetings we will need, as well as when and where. We will likely need at least three more, after the 28th, to cover the remaining issues on our original outline in any depth. Be prepared to make suggestions and offers for future scheduling.
