I request the following item be put on the agenda both for the Meter
Equipment subgroup on May 27 and for the Plenary meeting on May 28.

ITEM: NEW BUSINESS: Identification of key Meter Equipment concepts and
terminology for use in preparing proposals and final recommendations, as
follows:

METER: Defined as a set of functions, for the purpose of measuring any
relevant attribute(s) of a commodity service, including, in the case of
electric energy, internal instrumentation transformers, any
sensors/transducers to produce measurable analog(s) of the attribute(s)
of interest, any counters/indicators/registers of such analogs or other
calculators of attribute values, any registers/memories or
output/displays of the values so counted or calculated, and any power or
control functions associated with the operation of other included
functions; but excluding non-meter functions, such as communication
systems end devices (e.g., telephone modems or radio transmitters or
receivers) or enhanced customer-premises information devices.

METER PRODUCT: Defined as any manufactured good containing a meter, with
or without other functions such as communications systems end devices or
enhanced customer-premises information devices.

METER TYPE:	Defined as a design for a meter product, differing from
other meter types in any element of its architecture, hardware,
software, firmware, operating packaging, method of manufacture, included
optional or retrofitted assemblies, or intended application, including
those features related to included, non-meter functions.
