Welcome
to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) website for the
environmental review of Southern California Edison's (SCE's) Kern River
Transmission Line Rating Remediation (TLRR) Project (project). The
project is located in the central portion of Kern County and the
northwest corner of Los Angeles County, California, near the cities of
Bakersfield,
Arvin and Tehachapi and nearby communities of Grapevine and Gorman. It
would begin at the Kern River Substation located 13 miles northeast of
Bakersfield, and would extend south to the Gorman Substation, about two
miles east of the community of Gorman, with a branch extending east to
the Banducci Substation near the City of Tehachapi; a map is provided here.
SCE will be submitting a Permit to Construct (PTC) application
for the project to the CPUC in February 2022. The project will be reviewed under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The CPUC will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) as the CEQA lead agency This website provides access to public documents and information relevant to the CEQA environmental review process.
