Attached is a proposal for transfer of end-user meter data using
ANSI-standard electronic data interchange (EDI) to replace the current
interim CMEP format. This proposal recommends the use and adaptation of
the Utility Industry Group's implementation guideline for meter data,
using EDI transaction set 867, of which a draft is available at
http://puc.paonline.com/electric/DEW/UIG.htm. The UIG's guideline is
expected to be finalized by mid-1998, and this proposal will be updated
as revisions to UIG's guideline become available. This proposal will
also be accompanied by a supplement recommending the optional
availability of a subset of UIG's implementation guideline for EDI
transaction set 810 (invoice), for transfer of some types of end-user
meter data.
