Input Welcome on EDI Proposals

At the last PSWG MDMA committee meeting, Chris King invited participants
to send inputs toward a refined proposal to migrate to EDI for the
transfer of end-user meter data, which I would edit into a document for
presentation to the May 12 committee meeting. So far the only input I
have received is from Cathy Chang of SoCalGas, who has staff preparing a
mapping from CMEP to EDI.

I feel that ORA's proposal has been fairly specific in my notes to the
PSWG3 (MDMA) Web site of 3/23/98, 3/27/98, and 4/10/98, and while I can
pull these and answers to questions presented at our 4/14/98 meeting
together into a single document, and identify specific codes for the
various VEE adjustments, what is needed is specific proposals from
others who have concerns about timing or other transition issues. For
example, ORA's proposal is for MDMAs to implement EDI for use by ESPs
who want to use it, by 1/1/99, and any parties who feel that CMEP needs
to coexist with EDI for a period of time after that, or that other
transition plans should be used, should offer a specific proposal for
moving forward and explain why it has merit.

I have asked Chris King to defer substantive discussion of EDI until the
May 12 meeting because I will be unable to attend the April 28 meeting,
and am the sponsor of ORA's proposal. So this gives people some time to
get input to me for discussion on May 12.
