6.3 PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAMNoticing
The CPUC, as the lead agency, held three public information meetings to notify residents in the San Diego region about the proposed sale. In preparation for the Initial Study, the CPUC sent a notice of the public information meetings to more than 800 stakeholders, including residents and homeowners within one-quarter mile radius of the project areas, special interest groups and local, regional and state governmental office holders and agencies.
Advertisements announcing the public meetings were placed in multiple papers throughout the geographic area of the project. The display advertisements were translated and placed in English and Spanish language newspapers, including the San Diego Union, North County Times, Chula Vista Star, The Reader and La Prensa. The display advertisements were posted between July 2, 1998, and July 13, 1998.
Public Meetings
The CPUC conducted three public information meetings to explain the environmental review process and to receive public comment on the Initial Study. Meetings took place at the Senior Citizens Center in Carlsbad on July 14, at the City Council Chambers in Chula Vista on July 15 and at the Holiday Inn on the Bay in San Diego on July 16, 1998. More than 35 individuals attended the public meetings.
